8th Annual Silicon Valley Latino Leadership Summit (SVLLS) to Feature Workshops, Speakers and Industry Leader Awards
[May 1, 2017] On Saturday, May 6, award-winning actor-writer-director-author and comedian Rick Najera will be presented with the 2017 Visionary Silicon Valley Latino Leadership Summit Award taking place at Stanford Faculty Club, 439 Lagunita Drive, Stanford, CA 94305 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with the award ceremony beginning at 1:00 p.m. Summit schedule and tickets can be found on EventBrite.
“Rick’s vision has built diversity in communities through his contagious humor that transcends to a real life purpose,” said Frank Carbajal, founder of Silicon Valley Latino Leadership Summit and Es Tiempo, LLC. “Rick has focused on a collaborative approach to share his resources and his leadership skills through synergies and most important the 2017 visionary award that will continue Rick’s legacy in the Silicon Valley and beyond.”
Najera is being honored for being a visionary through his leadership for his early work as a writer for MADtv, In Living Color, Latinologues, and feature films, Nothing Like the Holidays to his current work, Hulu’s Emmy-nominated original series, East Los High, and director of the annual CBS Diversity Sketch Comedy Showcase. He is also the creator and host of Latino Thought Makers, a live inspirational interview stage series focusing on leadership and mentorship showcasing the successful career trajectories of Latinos in the entertainment industry.
The Summit will offer compelling and insightful sessions provided by nationally recognized speakers, industry leaders and annual awards. This year’s theme is “Executive and Entrepreneurial Leadership, Mentoring Up” – It’s Time! (Es Tiempo)”. The goal of the summit is to inspire rising professionals through an interactive discussion with top industry leaders.
Other honorees include Sol Trujillo, Chairman of Trujillo Group Investments who will receive the Lifetime Leadership Award and Angelica Perez-Litwin, Ph.D., Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Latinas Think Big who will receive the Pioneer Leadership Award.
